Esther Part 1

What do we do when we need answers and God seems silent?

The book of Esther drops us into one of the most uncomfortable and raw stories in all of Scripture, and it refuses to let us look away. Far from the sanitized Sunday school version of a Cinderella story, we find a conquered people navigating a brutal world, forced to make life-altering decisions without a prophet, without an explicit word from God, and without any guarantee of how things will turn out. And yet, in that silence, something remarkable is happening.

No new word from God does not mean no word from God. Mordecai and Esther had the Torah, the accumulated testimony of who God is, what he has done, and what he has promised. That foundation did not give them certainty about outcomes, but it gave them something better: the confidence of walking with the one who does know. We are invited to sit in that same tension, trusting not because we have all the answers, but because we know the one who holds them.
