1 Kings Part 1: The Test Of Success | Pastor David Hermes

Mar 8, 2026    David Hermes

This Sunday, we reflected on the story in 1 Kings 3:3–14 and how it reminds us that what we ask for reveals what we value most. When God appeared to Solomon and invited him to ask for anything, Solomon didn’t request wealth, long life, or victory over his enemies. Instead, he humbly asked for wisdom so he could lead and serve God’s people well.

God was pleased with Solomon’s request because it showed a heart focused on responsibility, humility, and a desire to honor Him. Because Solomon sought wisdom above everything else, God not only granted him extraordinary wisdom but also blessed him with riches and honor. This moment shows us that when we prioritize what matters to God, He provides in ways beyond what we could expect.

Through this story, we’re reminded that God cares deeply about the posture of our hearts. He invites us to seek wisdom, discernment, and a deeper relationship with Him as we navigate the decisions and responsibilities of our lives.

Our hope is that this message encourages you to seek God’s wisdom in your own life, trusting that He guides and provides for those who pursue Him with sincere hearts.
