Joshua Part 2: Standing on Promise

Jul 20, 2025

Today we’re looking at the story of Achan in Joshua 7, and honestly, it hits home on a lot of levels. We get real about trust, God’s provision, and why hidden sin is such a big deal. Think about it. What do you do when the way God provides for you suddenly changes? Do you start freaking out and try to handle things your own way, like Achan did? Or can you actually trust God and stay bold, like He told Joshua to?

This message shows us something huge: God usually gives us a promise before we ever run into a problem. He’s already given us what we need—we just have to hang onto it, even when things get tough. Real strength isn’t about never being scared; it’s about choosing to trust and obey God even when you’re feeling anxious or uncertain.

The challenge is to skip the shortcuts, trust God’s timing, and remember if God hasn’t given it to you yet, it’s probably for a reason. Don’t force it! This story hits right at the heart of our struggles with not having enough, with stress, and with wanting to make things happen ourselves instead of waiting on God. At the end of the day, it’s way better to choose a real relationship with God than settle for some temporary win that won’t last.
